photo Other Families
By Dorothy Chvatal

This provocative video explores the perceptions and feelings of seven adults, ages 18 to 40, raised by lesbian mothers. Three are themselves gay; four identify themselves as heterosexual. The program confronts the question so frequently asked by skeptics: "How will the kids turn out?" To judge by these seven, the answer is that they've turned out just fine: with some problems, to be sure, but the main problems they have experienced arose from the need they or their parents felt to keep secrets from a society that did not accept their kind of family.
